How do the mods work on the GOG release? Anyone who bought the game already here on GOG know?

Thanks
EDIT
Tynan Sylvester the creator of RimWorld. have now enabled download from steams workshop.
See later in this thread for how to do this.

So the following statement is not true any more.
------------------------------
Ludeon have apparently disabled download from the steam workshop.

A random Old mod for RimWorld on steam
Trying to download it http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/view/732754899

As a Example doing the same for don't starve works. Even on new mods.
A random NEW mod for Dont Starve
download test http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/view/2008373416

So this must be a bummer/error from Ludeon's Hand.

most mods can be obtained from github or https://ludeon.com/forums
but is more of a hassle or impossible for some mods without steam.
I had actually looked forward to getting this from GOG as I don't want to use steam.
But now ...

I am sure mods work fine on GOG version but you need to get them.

Just bought this and realized that most mods are on steamworkshop too :( Is there a way we could easily pull from steam workshop? otherwise i might just opt for refund and get it from steam instead, its a shame too ...
high rated
well not for RimWorld
Download from the steam workshop with http://steamworkshopdownloader.com works nicely. One can also download direly using a Userscript like this https://greasyfork.org/en/users/6073-sean-campbell.

But it only works for games were download from the steam workshop have not been disabled. Or perhaps rather been enabled.
Like in don't starve or don't starve together. So Klei Entertainment did enable download thus completely supporting users using a DRM free version. Ludeon have apparently not done this entirely.

Notice that workshop-download works for don't starve together and I think that game is newer than RimWorld.

--------------------
Best bet is to look in forums or nexus.

now there is way to get downloads from the workshop but this require use of sites that keeps copies of workshop-mods around for downloaded. So if you feel lockey you can find mods there:
1) http://catalogue.smods.ru/ Works relatively good for games it support. Also it will tell you the date a mod was fetched. to use click on "How To Install Mods" then enter steam id of mod you want in the field right under "SEARCH BY TITLE OR STEAM ID" left side.
2) http://steamworkshop.download/ looks and behave as if it download direct from the steam workshop. But it works using a database. Mods downloaded tends to be really outdated. No proper info is given of how old it actually is. so only use as a last try.

Me i stay with Dwarf Fortress until one can download from the workshop like from don't starve. or other unblocked titles.
I stopped entirely using steam a long time ago after being fed up with the DRM (Digital Right Minimization) there.

I just typed in rimworld drm free mods and many suggestions popped up. Follow those, or actually do a search on a particular mod that you want to begin with and work backwards from there.
You guys know that you can get mods without usong Steam workshop, right? Ludeon website got mods for free.
some or perhaps most of the mods you can find on ludeon's forum but definitely not always.
here is one example https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=46905.0
Notice the download Link shown is only to Steams Workshop. Reading trough the posts in the thread the MOD-author refuses to bring a direct link and Ludeon indirectly supports this (or more precisely Administrator/Moderator does).
For me. After reading this thread (noticing the Moderator comment). It was the tipping/changing reason why I end up deciding not to purchase RimWorls.

So in reality the only way to get access to all mods. Is having access to steams workshop. And that possibility did Ludeon apparently disable. Or failed to enable.

And YES I do believe this game is likely really fun to play. Otherwise there wold never been written so many mods. Or made so many lets-play's on YouTube for that matter (just watch and see for your self).

Its not like you need mods or specific mods to play and enjoy this game.
aaaaand a couple of support emails later and workshop download works fine now...Tynan has enabled it..now that's one good dev :)

YES This is really cool and god news :-)

https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=50850.0

I think this means Tynan did enable anonymous download from steams workshop using the SteamCMD.
So now one can manually download any RimWorld mod using the SteamCMD.
How to do it this is described here

Or one can probably use https://steamworkshopdownloader.io reliably from now on. Because that specific site happen to use the SteamCMD to download mods I think. Just remember there exist a range of steam download sites with quite similar names that do not work.

I changed my stance. and will buy this game as soon as I have money for it.

-----------------
I will repeat the howto in a really brief version here:

1) download SteamCMD from Valve's official site.
2) find the AppID for the program. Look at the link while browsing the app on steam RimWorld has 294100
3) Find the ModID in the link while browsing the Mod. In this Example The ModID is 735106432
4) run SteamCMD and then use the commands:
login anonymous
workshop_download_item <AppID > <ModID>

Using the example above is wold look like:
steam>login anonymous
steam>workshop_download_item 294100 735106432

and you will get the mod.
I have tested this with the above example and it worked. See attached image.
