kalron: Posted same problem in another thread, Mods yet to answer...for many days now.
I'm thinking of returning my first game in GOG history. Says the OS is supported but NOPE! Fail big time.
Love you guys though, I have Turok to keep me busy for now!
To the best of my knowledge, this has nothing to do with the OS, as I can run the game flawlessly on a desktop with Vista 32bit but can't get it to run no matter what I try on a laptop with the exact same OS. My best bet would be that it is, in fact, a GPU/driver issue, rather than an OS one, and I don't think it's fair to blame GOG, the game was always a pain in the bum to get to run, the fact GOG made it somewhat playable on a lot of systems is something to be praised.
Having said that, though, don't expect GOG to fix it any further, it's an old game and they already did what they could, plus, they need to focus on the newer games that are still supported by the developers and that keep getting patches and fixes, so, I honestly don't think GOG is left with that much time to focus on fixing these old "discontinued" titles.
I also contacted GOG Support regarding this game (wanted to get it to run on my laptop) and all I got as an answer was the usual "try compatibility modes, try installing and running as admin, try installing the 2010 DirectX runtime thing from Microsoft, try updating your GPU drivers or resetting them instead" reply, of which *nothing* suggested worked.
If you don't have a computer in which the game runs, like I do, and you can't get it to run even if you use dgVoodoo or ddwrapper, then, yes, by all means, ask for a refund, as you're entitled to it. Sadly, I must say, since I'm having a blast playing this game, it's an amazing title for us old Diableros looking to scratch that itch with more than Darkstone or Torchlight.
