Hi,

I'm hoping someone could give me a hand. I'm playing the base game, and I unlocked Hard Mode after beating Leon A with an A ranking. For some reason, the next day, Hard Mode has disappeared. I attached a picture of the unlock message, and after seeing it, I did see the mode display when starting a new game. But I didn't take a picture of that.

Three things happened that may or may not have caused this...

1. Might sound dumb, but I changed the folder name (I had a previous version of re2pc installed in a "Resident Evil 2" folder, so I swapped names around, and added the installation to GOG, as after changing folder names, it showed the game as uninstalled). But I did try re-naming the folder back to its original name, but it's still missing.

2. I installed and played the game on another device to test out Cloud Saving.

3. I over-wrote the complete save data with progress in Claire B. However, using GOG's cloud saving data base, I was able to retrieve the old complete save data and put that back into the Saves folder, but it still didn't unlock.

Important to note that I did unlock the unlimited ammo rocket launcher by beating the game the first time, and that is still there. Just hard mode is missing.

Other re2pc versions have a "SuperHardSwitch" in the registry files, but I couldn't find that for this version. Closest thing I could find is in goginfo.ini:

I'd prefer not to goof around with registry files unless I know it'd work... does anyone know if there is something in the registry that unlocks Hard Mode?


EDIT: Just to add, in case there was any issue with the folder name change and paths, etc, I just uninstalled and re-installed, still no hard mode. Rocket launcher and saves are fine, though.

Hi, I seem to have the same problem as you. I also finished both Leon A and Claire B, and I could have sworn that Hard mode is unlocked on the menu. The next day, I am ready to do Claire A, however, I noticed that there is no Hard mode option. The same goes when I'm trying to do Leon A again... no Hard option.

Just to add details: I have the the Classic Rebirth with the Seamless HD mods.

Have you found any fix on this?

This is completely different and separate for Sourcenext (what you are using). You can't unlock anything in Sourcenext. To get hard mode and unlock everything in general, open config.ini, and make the following changes:

GALLERY0 = 0xffffffff
GALLERY1 = 0xffffffff
GALLERY2 = 0xffffffff
GALLERY3 = 0xffffffff
GALLERY4 = 0xffffffff

SPECIAL = 0xa
SuperHardSwitch = 1

That's odd but thank you for this, I can now see the Hard Mode because of this one.
