Okay listen when i start the game normal with or without galaxy the INGAME part is WAY TOO SLOW framerate wise.

Now the interesting / weird part: The moment i add it to steam and play it that way, or record it with OBS it runs perfectly fine without any issues. The moment i dont use steam or stop recording in OBS it starts lagging again.

My Hardware just in case:

Intel Core i5 11600KF
AMD RX 6600 8GB
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
Samsung NVME 980 Pro 1TB

Can ANYONE tell me why that happens for whatever reason? And is it possible to patch that?

And before anyone says it might be a Linux problem that issue happens on Windows 11 as well.

now that you mentionned it, I was wondering why was I so lucky regarding framerate bug but I am playing through steam big picture on my tv so maybe that's why
I have an AMD 6700 XT and it works fine only with 144hz of refresh rate; it stutter a lot with 60 and 120hz
Radeon RX 7600 XT here.

Unplayable framerate. Like seconds per frame type shit, and I'm not sure why.
Same thing here.
Carlosdudu92 actually has a solution that works great.

Carlosdudu92: DXVK works on windows too, download DXVK https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v2.3.1 , extract and copy x32 versions of d3d9.dll and dxgi.dll to Resident Evil instalation folder, it is that simple.

I have this bug as well, and doing this helped me out.
I found that making the game run at 4k also worked as well for my particular problem. How odd. I was getting literally 3 fps at 1080p but now buttery smooth at 4k. wtf

Also a 6700 XT also with 144 hz.
Works fine, but never tried out another Framerate.

Framerate is capped to 30 fps in-game and to 60 fps in-menu and when you open the doors (also when you use the stairs)

If i try to use 60hz or 120hz i got just 1fps

Upsidupsi, i ment Herz :)

Edit:
All the fault of all Consoles, offering 50hz or 60hz Modes :P

I see you have an AMD GPU and right now AMD GPUs have a framerate problem that they are looking into but there is a really easy solution that fixes it completely for AMD users.

What to do first you must download DXVK from https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases this translates DirectX API calls to Vulkan. After downloading first extract from the DXVK sub folder called "x32" the files d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll and paste them into the Resident Evil directory and then simply run the ResidentEvil.exe and this will now get the game to run at the correct framerate at all times.

What this is doing is translating DirectX API calls to the Vulkan API instead which is mainly used to get Windows games to run smoothly on Linux but Windows can use this too. AMD GPUs work well with Vulkan so its a great solution.

GOG is looking into this problem themselves and I expect they will have to improve their DirectX renderer to work better with AMD GPUs.
Had this issue on my AMD 6700XT GPU, the way I fixed it was downloading GDvoodoo:-

((Cant post links so just google DGVoodoo))

Launch the application, go to "DirectX" setting:-

For Video Card select:-

ATI Radeon 8500
VRAM type in whatever your actual VRAM is on your GPU, for me I typed 12GB (otherwise you run the risk of the game crashing in the dining room)

Disable the dgVoodoo watermark unless you want an annoying watermark in the bottom corner of the screen.

Select apply and you're done.

Launch the game via the shortcut in the Resident Evil Folder.

As a side note I'd ensure you install the Japanese version of the game and download the HD Backgrounds and REBirth.
