I'm on the fence about this game, never played the mobile version but it looks very interesting. I haven't seen any reviews on GOG yet but I wanted to hear other people's impressions from playing it. Is it worth picking up at this time? :)

its a point and click game you controll the camera and her
It reminds me quite strongly of the Experiment 112. You play through the perspective of security cameras, scouting out a path for Hope then guiding her to objectives. You've got direct control over Hope in this though while you'd have to manipulate lights or machinery to signal the direction you wanted the character to go in 112. It plays "better" in Republique but I did find myself wondering why I can directly control Hope as well.

The presentation of art and sound is lovely with the switch to Unity 5 making a world I want to see more of. I did get some Deus Ex: Human Revolution vibes which was certainly for me going to be a good thing. The voice acting is a treat at times as well with the unnerving "Headmaster" and his commentary on novels that must be purged due to their destabilising influence.

There's a limited inventory which suits the game. Self defence items that give you time to escape and items that either have personal relevance or to allow access to other areas. The game is at heart a puzzle game set in a maze and it tells its story around that framework.

Two things that do irritate me though are the mode you enter to select cameras, collect information and use computers etc. It pauses the game which I'm fine with but it also turns the display negative, inverting the colours and turning this gorgeously lit world, detailed and interesting into an ugly mess with icons over it that rips me out of the atmosphere. The effect is that jarring for me that I want to spend as little time in that mode as possible - despite needing to use it frequently to switch cameras and uncover information. I just wish there'd been an interface that was different for that section, leave the colours and lighting as they to keep the player part of this beautifully designed world but have more pronounced UI elements and if there really needs to be a visual distinction for the mode then scan-lines or grain. Just not the ugly inverted colours.

The second thing that is irritating is the constant references to Kickstarter and other projects. You can have Hope pickpocket guards and she'll gain cartridges with games on them as well as there being posters that reference developers or games in the world. Yes it's great that the project was funded through Kickstarter but please... less of the references. I'm not sure if I want to keep on doing the pickpockets, I'm just wondering if there'll actually be something useful that I can acquire or if it's just going to me more adverts for other games.

Otherwise I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to how it continues.

Thanks for the input everyone! I'm a little short on money so I'll wait until this game is discounted further, definitely adding it to my wishlist! :)
