Ok, first of all I couldn't get the game to run at all. Clicking on the start menu icon or the desktop icon just launched a blank DOS screen, which eventually closed itself. I read the other posts on here and ran the "Graphic Mode Setup" under the start menu folder for RR. I changed the graphic mode to "OpenGL". This worked - first problem solved.
Next problem - I wanted to map the keyboard to make w, s, a and d the main directional movements, (the default mapping is horrific - how did we ever play games this way!?) I could find no way of customising the keys in the game. Again, I checked these forums and tried the "setup" icon this time. Problem is, when I exited this screen and launched the game, I was greeted with a blank screen again. Turns out you need to run "Setup" as an administrator too. Second problem solved.
This leads to my final problem. I ran "setup" and switched the resolution to maximum, (1280...), mapped my preferred keyboard keys and selected "Save & Launch game". Now there's a thick black banner across the top 1/4 of the screen which doesn't go away during play. It's even there whenever I run "setup" now. Anyone have any tips for getting rid of this black bar?
Oh, and the icon in Vista's "Games" folder is useless, doesn't work at all.
