As far as, "Please Help", I couldn't but it brought up some questions that I was afraid would distract in that thread. I've had pixalated ground from the get go. I assumed it was due to the game's age so never mentioned it (even mods are bound by limitations of the original). However, my main beef (it really is hard to judge how close to the ground one is and see low flying aircraft) appears to be something I've missed. I assumed from reading at several sites that the "wrapper" was no longer needed, ie, a relic of Voodoo. Is there really a difference when using a modern computer in windows mode (as the other sites all seem to recommend) as opposed to wrap glider? It sounds like I am missing out.

The wrapper is to replace the VooDoo card as they are relics that modern computers do not like to deal with. Glide Wrappers will remove the pixelation. Fo me, there is no flying without a wrapper for the game is ugly without it.

Well, that explains a few things. Not sure why the Jasta 6 Mechanics Shop instructions and others recommended windowing. Can this be applied mid game or like mods/patches, will that cause problems?
Your lucky, your catching me running in and out of the house right now :) You can apply it now. The only things you can not do mid game is applies a mod that changes the aircraft or Aces in the game, by changing I mean adding, removing, or reordering the aircraft or Aces.
You can change image files and actual model files, and FM/DM files as long as they are named the same. There are some who change their terrain tiles when they get moved to new sectors.

OK; got glide to work (the one that came with the game made in 2003 didn't seem to work) using one of those you listed on the "Please, Please Help ---" post. I see a problem, though that is very distracting. It uses the whole screen meaning everything is stretched horizontally (I have a wide screen). I might have to stay with ugly :) . I guess I can try changing my screen resolution but that'll be a pain doing it everytime I play the game then changing it back (if it works).
EDIT: Didn't do a thing. The whole screen deal and the stretched planes just look too weird so I go back to "ugly" and a windowed approach.

Sorry to hear that. There is a way to fix that on some monitors and or Graphics cards, and for some, not. Your graphics card might have a way to letter box a specific game, but you would have to look through it's options. My monitors have so far always been 4:3 resolution.

My next try will be to use my original circa 1999 monitor - the old Sony still works and has sharp images and is 4:3.
Don't know your system specs, but if you have an Nvidia card, and at least a 24" monitor, you can go into Nvidia Control Panel, select "Adjust desktop size and position" and check "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio". Now the game will come up in normal 4:3 aspect with black bars on each side. This option is not available on most 22" monitors. There is probably something similar in the ATI CCC panel as well, but I don't use radeon cards, so I can't say for sure.
