The 'super patches" were designed to convert RB2 to RB3 and have many plane skin improvements. However, such large patches in such an old game can cause heir own set of problems. I don't mind the old skins as it has no affect on game play but things like the Halb Cl-II arriving nearly a year early bother me. Does anyone know if there is a still available patch that addresses the historical accuracy of the SP campaign? I have "Full Canvas Jacket" but it causes problems (at least for me - can't get the game to even run with it applied).

There are three that I can think of right off the top of my head.
One is Revenge of the Jastas III. It's strong points is numerous aeroplanes compared to stock or other mods, the creator has opened up a number of slots for planes that are closed to other modders. And second and best is the planes in RotJ is that the planes have non-mirrored sides. In stock and other mods If you write something like "USA" on the side, the other side will show :"ASU" Not Revenge of the Jastas. Unfortunately the cockpits do not mesh well from static view to slew mode view :(

The link to the downloads is the top redish rectangle on the left, then the download for the mod is the same rectangles on the download page. Ten groups of files.
The second mod is Hells Angels. There is a seperate patch to convert the Hells Angels' look to Multi-player.

The Western Front patch. This one increases it's aeroplane variety number by use of "date based patch" The planes are non-mirrored so what is on one side of the fuselage, the revers is on the otherside. However there are still a number of folk playing the game and making modifications to it.

Hope this helps.

Actually, there is no difference in the SP game of RBII and RB3D stock, and none of the aircraft nor object textures were changed, they just look better due to 3dfx/Glide 3D acceleration
Wailwulf's suggestions are good.
the whole point initially, of what the RB modders called UnOfficialPatches ( UOPs) was to fix historical inaccuracies, then to add more variety to the game
for some inexplicable reason, Dynamix left out Josef Jacobs, Germany's 5th best Ace and leader of Jasta 7, and noted for flying a Clerget powered Dr.I quite late into the war. Jacob's was the first addition the modders made to the game around March 1998.
I have a collection of earlier mods, including earlier ROTJ versions, and UOPs that were the predecessors to Hell's Angels at http://www.redbaronplayers.net/uopmods1.htm
have to fix some links up top, but the downloads from the middle to bottom of that page should all be good
Hey, thanks. I knew about the HASP but that super part thru me - thought they were only to make 2d into 3d. I got it loaded and working. Nice having an inflight map that actually works. Not sure if the historics are fixed or not, though. The unpatched campaign had the Halb Cl-II arrival in Oct and I've flown just one mission.
One thing strikes me though - I'm not a historian but I'd have though the E-III would have been phased out by the beginning of the game - not the primary aircraft of elite squadrons. The initial hunter squadrons in mid-summer used the Halb D-II as its primary aircraft because the E-III was already obsolete and Alb D-II was available months before the game start. Its cool flying the E-III as a rare monowing but at best I'd think it wiould be the plane of last resort.
Interesting. So much patch is so old a game usually causes problems and so it did. Several times now when I click on "next mission" a screen came up for me to plan one - as an Unteroffizier, I shouldn't be able to do this. I've found that planning some mission - lone wolf is easiest - then ending the mission as soon as it starts gets one back to AI planned missions. The other option, turning off the compure (game is actually stuck there - plan mission or turn off computer is all you can do - "next" has no affect) accomplishes nothing. Interesting enough, the last time this happened, just a few moments ago, something like 10 pilots transferred into Jasta 10. Anyone know what is happening and any suggestions on stopping this from happening?

Pilots transfer in for a few reasons.
1. A squadron pilot has died.
2. A squadron pilot has been promoted and therefore transferred out.
3. There are too many officers of the same rank (happened when i joined Jasta 11 as an officer. Was the same rank as MvR so he transferred out)
To prevent #1, don't let your squadmates get shot at.
For #2, don't let your squadmates score points. Or use a hex editor to keep thier scores down, or use Tymophil Editeur du Campagne to do it easier: http://majpalmer.com/horst/RB3dCamEd.zip
The file debrief.dat sometimes causes problems and you can delete it (a new one is written after every mission)

Interesting; it was the first mission in 1 Sep 16 and there was no mention of anyone transferring out - empty squadron at the beginning except me? That might explain why I was considered the commander too. Hopefully it is a fluke and won't keep recurring and, as far as I can tell, it only happens at the very first mission when the game is started. Its not a killer - the work around just takes a minute or so.

Where is this file? A search didn't turn it up nor is it in the campaign or data folders.

It shows up in the main game folder. If it is not there, do not worry. It is when it is left in the folder and you start RB3D that it can cause problems.

Been interesting. It seems to be a fluke of sorts - has not repeated after the initial 1 Sep 16 turn. Now I'm back to crashes when going into "fly mission". That appears related to the "new pilot" set up. What I have now learned is that, while not always, one can have only one active profile here. Even a blank page can cause the crash. My workaround this time was to delete my pilot and retype his info on the blank page. Worked fine after that.
Still, worth the effort.
