Just saw that it made its Steam debut today.

Not that I care, since I have a GOG copy. Funny enough, I just got back to playing it, after stopping halfway. I'm now on Chapter 12'ish, so I plan to stick it out til the end.

But I do find it slightly curious when something that's been available on GOG for a while shows up on Steam later. Is it exclusivity contracts? Going through the tangled web that is Steam / Greenlight?
Not sure, but I'm glad the game is now going to get even more exposure that it deserves.
Why is that cute exactly?
This game never had the success it deserved. Neither did other Gremlin excellent titles for that matter. This game rivals with the best horror movies out there.
I found out about this game on a thread I created in the general discussion part of these forums, for people to share games that are criminally overlooked or underrated.

It is one of the best games I bought here on GOG, and it's a shame it isn't better known. The early FMV is superbly done, and it's still quite impressive today. I absolutely love the first person adventure mechanics, I'm not a first person shooter fan, by any means, but this works so well with my beloved point and click adventure genre, that I instantly fell in love with it.

I haven't finished the game yet, because my main computer broke and I didn't have a backup of my saves, so I had to start it all over again, but the length of this game is kind of surprising, I wasn't expecting a game like this taking so long, and giving the player so much freedom while being an amazingly written adventure game.

I just can't praise it enough, I may be late to the party, but this is definitely one of my favorite games ever made, nonetheless, and even though I don't use Steam and tend to avoid it, it's nice to see this almost lost gem get some exposure in a huge store like Steam. Let's just hope it doesn't get buried underneath the modern-day releases most 15 year-olds only care about.
Yep, I bought it two years ago during a promo, when it was dirt cheap, and I daresay it was by far the best value for money I could have received on here. I didn't even know what I was getting into; I thought it was just an ancient horror shooter with some adventure elements, but the story, the characters, the sound directions and different environments simply blew me away. I've finished it four times, and I plan to start a new game at least once a year.

I wish there was a modern remake, or even RotH2. It was very successful back in the day, so I'm surprised no one has decided to capitalise on it today.
I had originally come across the game on a list of worthy classic horror games made on the PC. The premise and mechanics of the game alone caught my attention, and a well-written point-and-click shooter horror game almost sounded like my dream game. And, much to my surprise, it fit many of those aspirations of mine. I bought it off Steam as soon as I had heard about it then, being a couple weeks ago, and beat it over the span of 7 days. It was an absolutely wonderful experience.

Criminally underrated feels like an understatement, because the effort gone into making this game is apparent in nearly every moment, taking the form of beautiful atmosphere, enticing gameplay, or the well-written, pretty well-acted story.

I myself am late to the party, as I only just completed the game very recently on Steam. And, what an experience it was. It truly feels as if it demands more attention.

I'll just heap on some more praise for this game.
I bought it back in 1997. Since then, I've started this game 3 or 4 times over the years, always intending to finish, but never doing so. The last time (around 2010), I made it to Chapter 16 with the aid of a walkthrough, but it STILL took me like 6 weeks to get that far. And at that point, I got hopelessly stuck, and the walkthrough didn't help.

I'm not a very good Adventure Gamer, so I suck at this game. But, that said, this game is right up there with the most memorable games I've ever played. The surreal locations are beautifully done, and to be honest, the main reason I kept playing was to see what kind of dreamy location I would get to visit next.

I don't know if I will ever finish this game, but I know that I will never forget it. Even though I'm not an Adventure Gamer, this has always been among my favorite games of all time. A ton of work went into it, and it shows.

Over the years, I've acquired 3 copies of this game. The first one is the copy I play. A few years later, I bought a second boxed copy on sale for a spare. And now I also have the GOG version, for another spare. You can never have enough spares! :)
