A Thorwalian over a Warrior?

I plan on playing the entire series, but so far in RoA1 I cannot think of any reason why anyone would choose a Thorwalian?

Do they become better later in the 2nd and 3rd games?
I often choose a Thorwalian because they have the nicer set of portaits. :-)

Besides that: They only have disadvantages compared to the warrior or dwarf. But those disadvantages are not a big deal. I have played the trilogy with a complete B-team (Thorwalian, Rogue, Jester, Hunter, Druid and Witch). There is not point in choosing either of them. But the game was not much harder.

If you want to play the trilogy for the first time, you should probably avoid those character classes. But the Thorwalian is the least problematic of them, because he is still a tank. He only has bad magic resistance.

Actually, I dislike the Thorwalian portraits more :P but i like the character idea!

Everywhere I was reading said to choose a Warrior over a Thorwalian... so thank you much for the insight! Now to find a map and put some beat down on some orcs.

I'd say you're playing this the wrong way. At least for me the fun in exploring a game would be lost if looked up all information I could find about it on the internet. Most games were made to be played with just the information you got from the manual and the game itself. I think many new gamers do suffer from a misconception that in a game that offers choices the most enjoyable way to play the game is to look up the most powerful choice on the internet. But that is not the intention with giving players choices at all.
Unlike warriors Throrwalians can use poison and poisoned weapons are extremely powerful in RoA1.

But warriors seem to have a very pragmatic way to interpret their own moral code. It may say that they are not allowed to use poison. But it says nothing about using poisoned weapons. So if somebody else happens to put some poison on the warriors sword, he will not complain..
More importantly: Poison may raise your damage a lot for a few attacks, but that is only a bonus. It is not an important part of the game. You may also end up using poison to earn a lot of money by just selling it.
If you play beginner mode and have the computer distribute the skills automatically at level up Thorwalian is the only class which gets the axe skill raised and the best weapon in the games is an axe.

Not even the dwarf? Come on computer! A dwarf without an axe?!?
I do not know what the computer does in beginner mode. I do not play beginner mode. And neither should anybody else...
