Nomad_Soul: From what I've read thus far at least a portion of the non-useful skills were removed or combined. Can't comment on the towns, though.
I get the impression that either there's still a lot that don't do anything or will only do something in the (nebulously existent) sequels, although that may or may not be related to glitches.
A good point, and it looks like the developers do indeed have a lot of work to do. I'll probably check back in on the game in a few months
There's talk on RPGCodex on how the Gold version is riddled with game-breaking and many other annoying bugs. Might be a good idea to wait for a proper patch before buying.

Nomad_Soul: If some of the recent discussion on this thread is any indication, the game release has some issues and may very well need some serious patching. Not sure if GoG is going to jump on the roller coaster right away...

Ildrenvred: Has anyone here bought it yet? I'd like to know how it is- beyond the bugs. I am very excited about the release.
Having (foolishly) purchased it, I can confirm that it seems broken as hell right now and is probably in need of some extensive patching. Between random crashes and some of the text being untranslated, I stopped about 20 minutes in.
I bought it of steam but i dont really get it I dont even know how to the first dungon. I have played the original
I have this on steam and confirm that it is a disaster area. The devs are patching frequently but I cannot say that this will be sufficient.
I will wait for the final version.
As of right now, this game is very much playable. They've just added another hefty patch to the game last night. Personally, it's worth getting this if you love the original classic titles. And there are plenty discounts, so you can get it cheap.
I found the interface quite clunky but it is an improvement on the original running in DOS box. There does still seem to be a few more patches to come though but it does seem to be playable on the whole with some of the detail missing.
Actually tried the remake out last night, and it is A LOT better than it was earlier. I actually quite enjoyed it last night.
How is the performance now?
Shouldn't this remake be coming to GOG?
Presently removed from STEAM due to: quote......"The reason for the pull from steam is that we as a developer ceased our publishing cooperation with UIG for good"

Found the information on the STEAM forums hub for Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny

Hopefully work can continue on the game.
