For the record I actually own the game on Steam but I saw just a sales banner for Quake 4 while browsing on the GOG store, and it said 'New Update available'.

I see no news of a Quake 4 update on Steam, nor here on the forums, so could anyone let me know what the deal is with that? Was it just an update to improve compatibility for windows 10 and 11? Something like that? Or an update that removed various bugs/crashes? Or some new features?

I wonder if they finally fixed that texture nonsense.

I know that this game has graphics issues with all video cards with much vram

check if there is a possible autoexec.cfg in game folder after this patch (i'm using steam version for now and only gog version got this update; also, Game Pass version is more updated)

I don't think they'll be doing that anytime soon. But there's already a good community patch available which easily fixes that.
