Hi,

I recently installed Pure Pinball 2.0 Redux on my Alienware 17 R3 notebook with Windows 10 (1809).
Everytime I try to start the game it hangs at the "Iridon"-startscreen. Nothing happens then and I have to close the application.

I have already tried the Windows compatibility mode and forcing the game to use the nVidia GeForce GTX 980m instead of the Intel-GPU. Both without success.

Is there a known fix for the problem?

Hi.
I see there's no support for this game at all but I have some information on this error.
Yes, I have the same issue: Under Windows 10 the game seems to be stuck at the developer screen BUT NO. It actually loads, only 9 MINUTES later, or even more.
Nobody can wait 10 minutes for a game to load!
Anyway, the game seems to be stuck in a loop at the beginning and then it times out and it just continues as if nothing happened. This looks like a job for... hackers, I guess?
Another thing that I have noticed: in "options" you can reduce the texture size to minimum and the load time is reduced to a mere 5 minutes. Still unacceptable, I know, but it's an improvement.

Also, the game makers (a.s.k. / Iridon / Legendo) are still in business and maybe they'll look into it (if we ask them): https://legendo.com/
They also say that they're planning a reboot of this very franchise (!)

That's all I can contribute, I love PC Pinballs, I have so many of them and this is one of the few that I can't enjoy.
Hi all, I tried to reinstall this today as I upgraded my PC , now on windows 11. I got the hung at developer screen issue, and waited... and waited... and 12 mins later just gave up. As far as I can see it will never complete loading!

Has anybody found a fix for this yet?

The star trek games seem to have the same problem too. Do any of these pinball games actually work?

Here is what I did to get the game to run with good smooth performance on Windows 10.

1. Set compatibility mode in the shortcut to WindowsXP SP2.
2. Do not use display scaling in your video driver.
3. Copy the D3D8to9 DLL to the game directory.

The DLL can be download here https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9

The game load screens won't work (company logo and bikini girls) but the tables will run perfectly.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
The game seems to have trouble with newer multi-core CPUs, runs fine on my i7 5600U laptop, but hangs at the Iridion logo on my Ryzen7 2700 desktop. Both are running Windows 10, so it's not an OS issue. Not sure if it's the number of cores or just the sheer speed of the processor that confuses the game, but the solution is to limit the game to a single CPU core.

There is another thread in this forum about running the game with slowdown options with DxWnd, which works, but you don't actually need an external utility to get it working.

Running the game with following command line makes it work on my Ryzen system:

%ComSpec% /C Start /Low /Affinity 1 Purepi~1.exe

You can change the "Lauch Pure Pinball 2.0" -shortcut to point to this, or you can create a PURE.CMD file (or anything with a .CMD or .BAT extension) in the games folder with that line in it and add that as an additional executable to GOG Galaxy.

And if the game crashes with a "setview" error pop-up when lauching a table, try setting the resolution to 1024x768 in the game's option menu (it's the default). Anything higher caused the crash on my system (Radeon R9Nano).

Hope this helps some of you. A bit disapointing that GOG or the publisher haven't bothered to fix this, as this is a common enough issue with games of this era and one that has been fixed in many GOG releases.

I've got a core i9 13900, an nVidia video card, Win 11, and I got it to run just by waiting about 10 minutes (I didn't time it, but that seems about right I think). I had the same problem with my previous computer, a Win 10 core i7 machine, and the solution was the same. Just be patient I guess. That's what worked for me anyway.

It's frustrating, but once up and running, everything seems to work perfectly. I got it to display at the game's maximum of 1600 x 1200 full-screen, but not 16:9, so black bars on each side. I did turn off glass and reflections however, as they were distracting. It's a pretty game.

Runs at the proper speed and everything. I set nothing different. Just installed it, clicked the icon, and then waited a very long time. But once started, it runs perfect.
