Have you looked in the game folder to see if there is a separate VR executable?

Yes, on Steam the game is listed as VR supported. So I am also interested to know if the GOG version supports VR, because I want to play with my Valve Index.
I was also figuring out how to play in vr so I hope this helps you and other people.

GOG Galaxy version: On the game page there's an options button to the right of Play, click it and select additional executables, then choose your vr option. See attached screenshot.

Standalone version:
If you open the game's installation folder you can either run the oculus or steamvr .bat files so the necessary parameters are added to the executable or you can append them manually.

If you want to add the parameters manually just add one of the options below to your ProjectWingman.exe.
1. -vr -hmd=SteamVR
2. -vr -hmd=Oculus

Cheers!

No, the game is very much not made to be played with motion controls.
And sincerely why even bother when full immersion for VR can be achieved easily with a cheap flightstick since this game doesn't even have many buttons to bind and all can fit onto a Thrustmaster HOTAS X/4/ONE.

I agree that sounds way better i never thought of that setup. Thank you for clarification!

There are flight combat VR games that work that way. VTOL VR is one, and it is very highly rated by reviewers. ("overwhelmingly positive" reviews on Steam)

But most air & space flight combat games seem to use the combination of your VR headset and a HOTAS device such as the Thrustmaster T16000M flight pack.
