From what I've read about the game, it features some multiplayer modes, but I don't see "multiplayer" listed on GOG page as a feature. Can anyone confirm if the GOG version has multiplayer functionality?

And if the answer to the above question is "yes", is there crossplay? As in, can people using the GOG version play against players using Steam and / or Xbox Game Pass. Obviously a FULL crossplay, which also includes consoles, would be downright awesome, but I'm interested if it's present at least within the realm of different PC versions.

It has multiplayer, up to four player. Unfortunately I haven't seen anyone online, but it looks like it'd be a blast from the gameplay alone. I think you can play with users on the various PC versions, think it's all through Prodeus' own services
The multiplayer is awesome.

So to be clear: It hasn't LAN or direct IP connections?

edit: Don't bother, I found it on the store page:

"GOG Galaxy and a ProNet account are required in order to get access to community content, multiplayer, leaderboards, and cross platform saves - a ProNet account will be created automatically once you start the game and choose 'Log in to ProNet with GOG Galaxy'."

So, practically DRM for multiplayer and community content. No thanks.

I share this sentiment. Almost bought Prodeus through GOG but I only use GOG Galaxy for easy updating so the value of this game drops significantly if I have to connect to the internet to enjoy additional features. Maybe on sale I'll consider it if just to enjoy it's offline content but as it is right now, if I can't host a dedicated or listen server and play over LAN then it's not worth the full price to me.

edit: to elaborate, if the online authentication for the additional content is only once and the entire sessions is playable without GOG Galaxy indefinitely (no periodical re-authentication) then that would be fine.

Yeah same.
I prefer "buy to keep" , DRM-free and with all features offline.
LAN is immortal and can be emulated over internet anyway.
Pass on this one and back to GZDOOM i go.

Bump.

I am also interested in that kind of question: I also want to know if galaxy is require to access multiplayer or if I can use direct connect when I create a PRO Net account in advance.

Has anybody found out about crossplay, though?
