it loads the menu but the water behind the ship looks like a pattern of red and green see the attachment. once you click to start a game, the sand watch animates, once is done the game freezes. to the menu image. in background I can hear the sound effects of the game, (I remember them from the years ago when I've played the game)

ok I've payed for this like 70c so too much trouble for a refund but would like to play the game. what to do?

I have similar problems :(

The water is the same for me. I can start a game though, but the water ingame looks the same as in the main menu. Moreover, the scrolling is so fast, that it's not possible to control the game.

I thought it could be worth a try to use fullscreen as the game seems to use borderless window mode by default, but I could not figure out how to tell the game to go into fullscreen.

I also use W10.

Don't have 10, so.....
BUT

Did you guys have directx9.0c installed?

It is NOT included in Win10. Might be worthwhile checking for.
