Good morning! I've reached level 24 "Journey's End" of single player in Populous The Beginning and the game starts freezing permanently during the mission shortly after loading a save point. I then have to log out of my Windows account or even restart my laptop to restart the game! :/
I have read the solutions offered by GOG in this type of case but the main one is to reinstall the game in admin mode. But wouldn't that delete my progress...? Other solutions like selecting the default DEP (Data Execution Prevention) and disabling "full screen optimization" did nothing! I haven't tried the "clean boot mode" solution yet because it seems slightly complicated and rather tedious. I prefer to wait for a first answer before considering this option.
I find it really annoying and disappointing that in 2024 we aren't able to make video games from the late 90s playable! I'm a new GOG member and decided to subscribe and purchase digital games purely because I wanted to avoid these kinds of big compatibility issues. I am very disappointed!
