Can someone help please. I've downloaded and installed the game but when I double click the game icon the game fails to load. My cursor jumps to the top of the screen and the POD program tab appears on my task bar. After that nothing happens and I have to close it where I am told the program isn't responding.

I am running Win XP SP3 fully up to date.

Thanks in advance. :)

I'm also on windows XP sp3 and have exactly the same problem. Can anyone help please, as compatibility modes don't work either.
Further to my last post, I have found that placing a program called swiftshader (the ini file and the two dlls) in the POD folder allows the game to run, although the sound is corrupted. Search Google for swiftshader- there is a free trial version (with a watermark unfortunately).

This is only a partial solution, however, and I would still like it to run without swiftshader, so as to reduce the game lag.
I meant to say use the swiftshader 2.0 demo as the 3.0 demo doesn't work for me.
Thanks for the kludge. If nobody gets back with a 'proper' solution I'll give Swiftshader a try. I'm a bit loathe to try it as the whole point of me buying the GOG version of the game was so that I didn't have to have workarounds!

If 2 of us are having the same problem there must be others out there... this is a bummer. :(
It wont run for me either. Trying to run this on a netbook with win 7. I remember this running so well WAY back in '97.

Really hoping they figure this out. I'd love to play this.

Weird, the game works fine on my Win 7 x64.
Still no proper solutions? :(
I added this to the dgvoodoo solution since it applies there too - this was my workaround and I can now play this game on my netbook smoothly.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was able to run the game with dgvoodoo.

In fact I cannot run the game normally.

You do NOT need the original CD, but you need a CD labelled POD2_0, and it must have a data\binary\video\intro.cd file.

Essentially, I installed the game
made a copy of intropod.avi as introcd.avi in the same folder
used folder2iso on the pod install dir, labeling it as POD2_0
mount using alcohol 52%

Now you can use any wrapper you want. Tools used are free.
If you don't want to create a dummy CD-ROM, you might try PodHooks to enable alternate Gide wrappers.
