I just found out that GOG sells Pod, my all-time favorite arcade racing game. I quickly bought it and installed it and it works pretty darned good on my Windows 8.1 machine... IF I'm using my keyboard as the controller. I've connected my Logitech MOMO racing wheel and made sure it was working with other games and then tried it with POD. I selected the wheel controller in the Options menu but I cannot assign any different buttons - it's as if the controller isn't there. I go into the game and no action with the wheel causes anything to happen in the game. What gives?

I do have the game executable set up to run as an administrator. My system isn't state of the art (Intel i7 920 CPU, 8 Gb of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 video and ASUS Xonar DX audio) but it ought to be enough to run this old game. I'm not sure how to tell what version of DirectX I'm running. It's at least 9 as that's what the video card supports. I'm using the latest Logitech drivers.

Is there someone who has this wheel that has it working with this wonderful old game that can send me their Logitech profile they're using?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Long live these great old games!

<edit>I just checked the game with my wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller and it ignores that as well. However, I tried it with my Logitech Extreme 3d Pro joystick and it works like a champ. I couldn't assign different controls initially, but after a lap, I went back to the menu and changed to joystick forward/backward for acceleration/braking. That's how I first played the game many, many moons ago and it's pretty darned fun. MUCH better than playing with the keyboard and almost (but not quite) as good as playing with the wheel.</edit>

I can't get Flat out 2 to recognize my Logitech Momo wheel at all. Any suggestions?

Nice to know Extreme 3D Pro does the job. Honestly I ever only played POD with keyboard back then, and now. Heard that it's finicky with controllers but someone posted that it worked on their 360 controller: https://www.gog.com/forum/pod/controller_support_issues

Try the Logitech Profiler like some did here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/pod/wheel_problem

There's a USB patch you can try: http://hirnsohle.de/podUsb.htm, but I think it's meant to fix a specific issue of the game exiting after intro with a USB plugged in.

On an actual old PC, I have tried a gameport MS Sidewinder gamepad and it works well on 98SE. Gonna get a Logitech Wingman Formula old red version with serial/USB port to try out later.
