Corax: lmao this thread was nothing more than a pathetic viral marketing attempt

qalpha: That's the first thing I thought when I read this thread. "Boy, I sure wish there was an enhanced edition for this! Let's talk about how much we want an enhanced edition!" Two weeks later...
It does appear to be an amazing coincidence doesn't it? ;)

I'm kinda worried about Beamdog making an EE version of Planescape: Torment...then again, I'm one of those people who liked Icewind Dale EE, despite playing the original game.

I'll reserve my judgement about this game until I actually play it as long as there's no Gamergate-bullcrap involved.

I'll be grabbing my popcorn just to watch the fireworks in this EE fiasco.

HERE'S A BRIDGE...GET OVER IT, KID.

I liked the IWD EE too. They didn't screw around with the sprites, add lousy characters, or political crap to it. Beamdog did great work on that one, for sure.

the two BG games...not so much.

True...Of all the enhancements done by Beamdog, IWD:EE so far is quite decent compared to the 2 Baldur's Gate games. They should have done that with SoD but we all know the crapstorm that happened.

Again, I'll consider buying this one (at a discounted price, of course) if they leave the gameplay as is, without the bullcrap propaganda or additional NPCs I'll likely ignore.

The "enhancements" were the least of SoD's problems. They let a 12 year old activist write the story, and ignored it when she showed to have no knowledge of the setting or the previous games.

This is why social justice crap should never exist in a video game. The reason why many people are so sensitive nowadays is that SJW is always shoved down their throats from the internet to games, hence, my appreciation for games like Postal 2 that made fun of protesters who turn out to be violent in the first place.

Plus, pissing off your customers with your forced SJW propaganda in a game is a definite facepalm.

I wouldn't mind it if it popped up in some rpg set in the US in 2016. But when it is set in the Forgotten Realms...our issues don't really apply do they? The FR setting has no issues against gay people, or no racism based on skincolor.

Most gamer, or readers for that matter, play games\read books to get a break from real-world politics and all the crap that is going on. Getting hammered with "You must support trans people!" in the middle of a game, just breaks the whole immersion. I don't mind gay characters in games either. But like every other character they need to be written well, and not just be some token glued into the game to qualify the writer as being "progressive". A good example of a great character is Dorian from DA:I. Best character in the game for sure. And he happens to be game at the same time.

This here, though....https://us.v-cdn.net/5019558/uploads/editor/sp/dnce7jw3633a.jpg

Firstly "wench" isn't an offensive word at all in the Forgotten Realms. Secondly you get 5 replies to it. All of them = get offended. The writer just takes control of your character and gives you no options - to teach you that "wench" is a bad word in 2016. It removed the option for roleplaying, didn't it? A decent writer would have added different options to that one. One where you could turn the comment back on him, for example.

Personally I think trans people should have the same rights as everyone else. I have no issues at all with them.

This post sums up how damaging it can be when Activist-writers just stuff a group of people into the spotlight just to score social-points.

This bit of pure gold from Jaheira herself, kind of sums up a lot too. Especially since the SoD writer said Jaheira was "nothing but a nagging wife and doesn't represent women well"

Laughing @ all the nerds upset that EE was announced, and that my dark prayer was answered.

squid830: LOL that's brilliant how it backfired on her.

It's possible the Beamdog didn't touch the plot or characters for PSTEE. If so then I guess they won't change much else, except maybe UI and other minor fixes - and then charge way too much for it.

On the plus side I'm now in the mood to re-play this game one way or the other, so if the EE is nothing special (or worse) then back to the original I go...

Stig79: I guess they will mess up the sprites for PT EE. They did that with the recent patches of BG 1 and 2. They look cartoony now and don't fit well with the backgrounds at all anymore.
Having that dark outline around the sprite is an option for PSTEE, which is great for people who are not a fan.

The alternative sprites (in BG at least) look terrible when you zoom in. They look more pixely than something made in 1990.

Lebesgue: I am surprised you have encountered so many bugs. It works just fine on my Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 machines.

And I pray that Beamdog does not touch Torment with its dirty hands. They did enough damage already.
Works wonderfully well on my 8-core, 16-gig main memory, 8-GIG RX-480 GPU in a box that is fully up-to-date running Win10x64, etc. Here's a hint: *follow the GOG MOD GUIDE.* It works well, it is there for a *reason* and there are *tons* of supplemental materials all over the Internet to help you (Learn to use a search engine like Bing or Google.)

OK, so that's too hard and too much trouble? Sure, I understand. Try knitting, instead. My wife says it's real easy--but, ugh! It's a cryin' shame that people spend their own hard-earned money on great computer gear but then are too lazy to learn enough about it to use it to even close to its potential....Stay with it. The game still works great on SAO gear! Anyone who says otherwise is lying, it's just that simple.

Oh yeah? I just used the default black outlined sprites, didn't bother me so I never noticed what you are describing. I guess we'll find out what they did for PSTEE tomorrow! :-)
