I know that the Bronze Sphere is important, though I haven't been spoiled why (please avoid/hide/warn spoilers on the Bronze Sphere), and I actively avoided dropping the Bronze Sphere or moving it out of inventory.

However, my earliest save (just after recruiting Fall-From-Grace) does not have the Bronze Sphere. I am currently at the Clerks Ward and have done the majority of the missions available so far. Because I only ensured I kept potentially valuable items during inventory management, I did not notice it was gone.. :\

I expect this is from a glitch, from dying or cutscenes or similar. I heard later on that Morte loses all his items permanently when he gets kidnapped.

Is there any way where the Bronze Sphere can't be seen in inventory, or is it gone? Is there a way to get the Bronze Sphere back - in-game, save-game-editors, or otherwise?

Do you remember if it was in YOUR inventory, or another characters? I know if a member of your party dies, items get dropped where they died. I don't recall that happening to the Nameless One though...

There MAY be a way to create the item in your inventory - in several other threads there is a link to a huge P:T mod site. They may have the answers if no one here knows how to do it. Try here: http://www.shsforums.net/forum/552-pst-fixpack/
You should be able to create the item in game again. See the instructions here: http://www.gog.com/forum/planescape_torment/morte_teeth/post6

The code for the sphere looks to be BSPHERE.ITM so use that where appropriate.

It's been a long time since I played and I don't even remember what it's used for but there's only the one item code for it, so I don't see why respawning it wouldn't work as long as you follow the instructions carefully. I'll reiterate though: make a new save before you start messing around with any editors just in case something goes wrong. You do NOT want to mess up your only save. Keeping more than one save at any time is a good policy, in any case.

One way you may have lost it is if you have a full inventory and are given another item then something already in your inventory is dropped to make room. If you can remember a time that might have happened it might be worth checking. Or, as gamefreak suggested, check areas where one of your party has died. Good luck.

Thanks much for the replies and help, it's hugely appreciated. :] This was a real sucky spot.

I believe it was one of my companions, but it was long enough ago that I can't say for sure. The item getting dropped to make room/via character death is probably what happened.

I learned the basics of hex editing that roughly follow what's described in the thread posted above, and it worked out well (saved two different slots first - I keep a number of saves, the problem is always that I haven't kept the significantly old ones in past. Thus, the oldest still was missing the sphere). I got the Bronze Sphere, haven't spotted any bugs or issues, and the game appears to be treating it as if it were the original. I can save and load and all that.

Gonna start keeping a series of saves permanently to avoid this sort of problem.

And thanks for the mod site - I'll go there in future, if I have more problems. As well as the hex editing reference - I couldn't find that originally, and it doesn't hurt to have it.

YAY!!! Go MissDaydream :)
(hey, its always good when there IS a solution to something like this, because as much as I liked the game, starting over because of a glitch just sucks :p)
No problem. I originally had to figure it out myself when I managed to get trapped on the other side of a portal by travelling in from the map and lacking the object required to leave again. Gotta love glitches.
