I have the game modded as instructed in the sticky. This happens over half the time I use the spell, but not every time. Very frustrating. Any help would be much appreciated

I've had this too, although I think it may have happened on my copy with only the widescreen mod installed. Or maybe it was no mods at all. win7, ati 4870.

Same problem here. Win7 also, no mods.

Changing my display settings to 16 bit color depth fixed this issue for me.

Install this. Got rid of my spell crashes and i didn't have to fiddle with the hardware settings like some solutions make you do.
