Just a quick question. Can I play this game right away in single player with an X Box 360 controller please?

Not sure about the straight away part but there definitely is an option menu for setting up a controller. I played the game on a Dual Shock 2 via USB.

I have a dual shock 2 controller as well (PS2); IF you're playing single player and IF your computer is accepting input from your controller then you may have to configure the controller inputs (which are alternatives to the keyboard, so you could use both if you wanted..).

As I recall there are drivers for the 360 controllers on Microsoft's site, but M$ fails to give good generic drivers for other controllers.

Since the question is regarding a 360 controller (and I just got a Xbox receiver) I can answer YES it does, works immediately and is fairly intuitive.

In case you don't find the instructions, left-stick is movement, right-stick is aim, left bumper is capture, right bumper is fire. (Triggers on the sides are the same but not quite as responsive as they are axis types)
