Just ran into the problem that made me uninstall last time.

Things are going fine, then for some reason, I get red exclamation points over my pitch making buildings. They say "Production Stopped". I have full workers and timber in the trade office, and the industries are set to 100%

They were working earlier. I've loaded saves from when they were still working, and I can't figure out what happens to make them shut down. There are still beggars in town, though I don't know what difference that makes once I have full employees.

[EDIT]
All goods are supplied. The market guys confirm that. Everyone in town is "Happy" (and the middle class rising), and there is plenty of housing, except for Merchant, which is at 98%, and will be done in a couple weeks. But even a week after it's done, the pitch makers are still shut down.
[/EDIT]

What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Is there a siege going on? That would halt all production outside the walls.

Nope. The brickyards are still functioning. The rest of the city's production is still going. Just my pitch makers are shut down.

(Which one is the trade office, your personal storage or the market hall?) The timber needs to be in your own storage, not sold to the town. Unless those are your brickyards that are still going, then that is obviously set up correctly.

Yeah, my own warehouse, my own brickyards. I transferred the save to another computer to check it out, and it looks the same there.

If it would help, here's my save.

Going to check out the save, meanwhile I found this discussion that sounds similar. Except that there producttion starts and stops on its own, lowering percentages temporarily helped some people, others tore down the offending buildings...

Edit: they start again the next day whether I mess with the percentages or just wait, same result in p2gold and p3, finally installed it. I think I've seen it in my games too, but always assumed a display glitch, not convinced about the display part anymore, but glitchy for sure.

Thanks for the link. I can't say I understood it all, but I got quite a bit. Enough to get an idea or two.

I turned the production to 0, then back up, and played at high speed. The pitch makers came back online after about a day. Why that didn't work on my main game computer, I don't understand. But I can probably reload, play through at slow speed, then copy the save back to my gaming machine.

Thanks for the reply!

P.S. In the part I didn't understand, was there any suggestion of why it might have happened?

The last one speculates that if he has not enough timber for both brickyards and pitchmakers, the pitchers to go on strike. Its certainly curious the thread starts about hte same production you had problems with and pottery that someone else mentioned also uses wood.

I was wondering if it wasn't something like that. I had placed my 4th brickworks the same day (I think) then went to the market to bump up my timber levels. I've done that before without a problem, but was wondering if it was the exact timing -- the trade office had no lumber at the exact moment the pitch was completed, and wouldn't try to deliver again until the next trading day.

It didn't work that way on my main machine, though. I fast-forwarded 3 weeks without them starting up again, so saved and restarted the game, then loaded the game at that point, and the pitch started the next day. I loaded the earlier save, (the one above -- 1300-06-22) and the pitch started the next day. Seems once the game gets confused that way, it doesn't come out of it, but save-exit-restart-reload resolves the problem next day. Haven't been able to duplicate the shutdown since to see whether that's the general solution, but that's what worked with this one.
