I stopped playing this game late last year and never had any problem with crashes, but now I'm constantly getting crashes to desktop. The amount of time between crashes is random, sometimes it is immediately on loading, other times it could be in the middle of loading (loading the same file again doesn't necessarily repeat a crash), or it could be fine for 20 minutes or so.

I've tried changing the video drivers, switching between different versions (I have 2.1.5D & 2.1.7B), running as administrator, setting the cloth physics on low but to no effect (I always run borderless full screen by default which I heard could be a possible problem).

Some people talk about overclocking being an issue but I never had this problem playing Pathfinder last year. I ran a full Memtest86+ test that passed all 4 tests over several hours with no issues (I haven't completely dismissed the possibility that my overclocked machine is starting to fail after nearly a decade of service, but I would rather look at other possibilities first).

My thought is that perhaps having multiple unity based games installed might be a problem (I have Solasta & the Xenonauts 2 closed beta installed which are both unity based).

I've attached an image of the error as reported in Windows, though of course there is a more detailed log that is created as well.

I tried unregistering the DINPUT8.dll file, which I thought seemed to help, but it still crashes and creates an error log, though without the reference to DINPUT8.DLL.

I possibly may of fixed the problem, but I'll need a lot more time to make certain (no crashes yet).

It is looking like it may of been a USB Hub or Mouse problem. Normally I use my Display monitor's built in USB hub since my computer box is too distant to plug in the keyboard and mouse directly; the keyboard itself has a built in USB hub which I normally use to connect the mouse and occasionally the printer, which it is then itself plugged into the USB hub on the monitor.

Removing the USB Hubs and running a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse 'seems' to have fixed the issue, though I'm not sure exactly what is the cause:

-USB Hub built into Monitor
-Keboard with built in USB Hub
-Microsoft mouse (unlikely, I swapped from my Logitech G5 since occasionally the mouse would lock up and require replugging in, but I've had this happen recently with the Microsoft mouse which makes me think it was the USB Hub or Keyboard all along).

If the crash happens again I will update, but I'll stick with the wireless for now.

EDIT:
Several days with my wireless keyboard and mouse and not a single crash (though unfortunately my wireless keyboard seems to drop out randomly, but that is outside of the game as well, so not a game issue). I can't mark my own post as solved, but I guess has been solved.

TLDR: Problem solved by switching keyboard and Mouse to bypass USB hubs.
