Unfortunately some nasty bug is preventing me from saving my games, well, technically not "preventing" me, it just pretends to save the game, but when I check my save game folder it isn't actually in there. I first started noticing this once I entered the otherland dungeon (level 10).

I have made a backup and will try deleting some of the older saves to see if this helps, but I would advise anyone to keep an eye on the save game folder to make sure it is actually saving your game when you quick save or manual save.

I updated to 2.1.0i since this was in the patchlog:
Fixed the issue due to which sometimes it was impossible to save the game.

But of course I get the DLC missing error with the only option to delete my saves, so I'm rolling back to 2.1.0h as I write this.

EDIT: I deleted around 50-60 manual saves and made 10 manual saves in a row which all appeared in my save game folder. Will keep an eye on it and update this later if that didn't actually fix it (I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the save game size as well, my saves are now 30MB each).

EDIT2: No luck, as soon as I transitioned to another area in the otherland I can no longer save. Weirdly the saves appear until I exit the game, so it appears it is saving the saves to RAM but not to the SSD, so you can load those saves as long as you don't exit the game, in which case they are gone forever.

Manual and Quick save have the same issue. I have set my quick saves to 10 save slots, so when I quick save 10 times in a row it won't write the saves to the SSD, just to RAM; it will however delete those quick saves that do exist despite not writing them to the SSD.

I don't know if is is this "Other World" map in pariticular that is breaking the save game functionality (Season of Bloom chapter), but this is quite worrying. I might try and get through the entire region to see if I can save after leaving the area, or I may need to wait on the next patch that will hopefully fix this nasty bug.

EDIT3: Seems the saves started working again after completing the Other World portion which is good news, will keep an eye on it to see if the fake saving comes back later.

With saving issues, have you checked your PC's ransomware protection stuff? I found that with my PC the ransomware protection was actually preventing most of my games from saving since it blocked the games from accessing anything under My Documents and a lot of the games were putting their save files in there.

I'm just using the default windows 10 protection measures that are built in.

What is odd about this is that it happened only for this particular area in game. Once I had left the Other world and returned to my Barony saving now works as normal. I completed the next stage of the Tenebrium ruins keeping a close eye on the saves folder and it is now saving every time (Quick, manual and auto saves).

I think though that there may be some problem with my save though now as Dweomercats have some default name along the lines of "_no_name_object" or such (can't remember exactly what it is), although the correct description is still given for the Dweomercat through the monster inspect tool.

There does seem to be a fix in the 2.1.0i patchlog for some sort of save problem, so it may have been fixed, but as this version breaks all of the DLC's I'll need to wait for the next update to give it a try and see if the same region has those save issues.
I wondered if it was just me. I'm getting something similar, playing Varnhold's Lot. I'm just getting back to the town after the first set of quests, and I noticed all my saves were gone. I thought it was related to problems I was having exiting the game, but I think I cleared that up.

I was going to try turning off cloud sync and seeing if it was a GoG Galaxy bug.

Nope...still busted. So, either I upgrade, lose access to DLC, but am able to still play the main campaign, or I stop playing until there's a fix.

Well, sh*t...

There was a ''fix'' for this bug that seem to have worked for some...

That is interesting bit of info, so it sounds like it is related to some kind of mist in the game?

I don't really understand the scenario 1 fix that they are talking about, but I used scenario 2 (RAM saves, don't exit the game!), to get through The Womb of Lamashtu / Other World, and it started saving again once I got to the flower.

Though I did have those "RAM" saves corrupt and crash the game eventually, so it is a bit dodgy.

In any case I'm post "Season of the Bloom" and I think Varnhold's Lot is coming up, so thank MerlynDavis for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on my saves once I get to that region; it is a shame that the last 2 patches (2.1.0I and 2.1.0J) have broken DLC compatibility as I'm pretty keen to move to a version where the saves work as they should.

EDIT: I Should of mentioned this first, but make sure to back up the save game folder first if you are going to rely on the "RAM" saves since any quick saves or auto saves will still erase the real hardcopies of the quick and autosaves despite not writing them to disk; so if you aren't careful you can lose all of your old autosaves and quicksaves from when saving was functioning correctly.

I updated to 2.1.0k, and loaded my old save from the other world. I then transitioned to a new area via the mist and saved it manually which didn't work before in 2.1.0h.

Seems to be working now in 2.1.0k, though to be fair I haven't yet run into the Varnhold save bug in 2.1.0h.

Will keep updating if I run into a save problem again, but 2.1.0k is looking good so far.
I'll update to 2.1.0k and give it a shot. I'll update once I know for sure.

Edit:
Well, I'll be...I can save again, and use DLC!

Woohoo!!
