Hi all,
I've never played a Pathfinder game before. I've found really super builds on the forums so far for my NPC companions I will use in my playthrough. Fortunately, they cover a lot of bases but what I'm missing is my MC.
Having toyed around with videos and threads, I think I'd like to try and run an alchemist. I think the idea of lobbing bombs is quite ridiculous and appeals to my sense of humour. Mutagens sound like fun and infusing buffs onto others is something that appeals to my RP sense as my alchemist is going to be quirky but likable - kind to NPCs and dangerous to foes. Of all the classes I considered, he's also the one I think would be most likely to end up ruling a kingdom and doing well: the videos I watched had alchemists with high 20s or into 30 intelligence and I can see an intelligent guy running a kingdom.
I've heard that Grenadier is a cool subclass which gives some nice bomb upgrades instead of the poison resistance of base alchemist. I'm also totally ok with my Grenadier being pure, though I'm open to multiclass if someone could offer a compelling reason why it would be better/more fun/more RP appropriate.
I've never built a pathfinder character before, so any advice, particularly what to do at each level point, would be soooooo massively appreciated.
Particularly, I don't mind min/max builds, but I'd like my first playthrough to make sense. For example, I don't want to dump CHA to 7 when my guy is leading a party and ruling a kingdom. It may not make a huge combat difference or affect gameplay (who knows?) but I'd like my main character to be liked by his party and know how to hold conversations. My preference is for a brainy halfling as I've literally never played one before, but again, I'm super open to thoughts and suggestions.
Any advice, any at all, would be so gratefully received.
You're all wonderful <3
