Why does my firewall indicates that the owlboy exe opens a connection to the running Steam exe?

It was even worse for me. A window popped up with "AppId not configured". Used some old steam_api.dll and it worked. Seriously... Do i have to basically *crack* the game i *bought* on GOG to make it work?
I hope devs will remove Steam API from the game properly.
