I downloaded the game, installed it... got excited to play an old favorite... watched the video of how Abe started his adventure and when it's time to play... the screen is frozen... I can hear Abe trying to do things... but the screen just shows the very first frame of the game with no movement. I press "ESC" to get out and that screen won't even come up, I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL my way out of the game.

Plus at the very beginning where you have to choose if you want to play, load, etc (I think you choose numbers) there is no numbers showing.

I'm on Windows 7. HELP fix this or I would like a refund to put towards a different game.

Thank you.
You can only get a refund if:

a) you didn't download the game;
b) in case you downloaded and tried the game, you contacted GOG support and they couldn't get the game running on your system;

Obviously, there's nothing wrong in asking for help on these forums, people tend to be very knowledgeable and helpful, I'm just letting you know that while GOG does have a refund policy, it has those two conditions you have to abide by.

I don't know if this helps, but if you're running Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, make sure the game isn't installed under the 'Program Files' folder (not as likely to happen on Win 8, but still helped a few people), and/or that you're running it as administrator. It probably is not related to those issues, but it doesn't hurt to try, as it might solve your problem. Also, you might want to try tinkering with compatibility options.

I have the same problem. I made everything but the game still not works. Video trailers go without problem, but menu and game go with frozen screen. When I collapse and then maximize frozen screen the game changes its view, f.e. shows menu components, but they are frozen again.

I was hoping for an improved game compatible with modern PC parameters and hope for resolving this problem.

EDIT:

I found the solution (I wonder why I cannot to post normal link from this forum) here:

www.gog.com/forum/oddworld_series/ddhack_fixes_my_graphics_issues

Now game works good. But I wonder why GOG didn't include these files into its own installer and users who spent money for game need to find this solution like hell hounds? It's incredible for me...

P.S. Maybe administrators can stick that useful linked post with solution on top place?
