I cannot operate rail switches from the cart. Or activate transport portals. I must get out and do it on foot, which prevents me from traveling to different worlds. This game has too many bugs in it. Is there and upgrade available for Xbox One?

Yes you have to get out to throw the switches, their is only one place you need to trigger a swap machine whilst sitting in the cart, if done correctly it should work.
