Greetings to everyone.

Here is the problem. I recently bought this game and I encountered, soon after starting it, performance problems. It seems related to particles effect. When I go to the village at start, there are dead leaves raining from the sky as particles effect and this is precisely where FPS are dropping.

So is there a way to fix that, maybe by disabling particles effect from a config file ? Or is it related to drivers issues ?

My OS is Debian Testing with RX550 graphics using the free/libre driver from the official Debian repositories.

Thank you in advance for your time and future responses.

maybe it helps when you disable the lighting effects in the options menu.

I'll try it out on my RX 580 hopefully in the next 24-48 hours and let you know if I experience any similar issue. I am on Solus but it will at least give you a comparitive. I don't think you should have to turn any settings down given your hardware and the graphical detail, if you do then that is poor optimization on the developer's part.

Thank you for your responses. In fact I already disabled lighting effect, it only brings a little improvement of the frame-rate, still unplayable though.

And yes @shylock.596 that seems to be a poor optimization problem or maybe a porting problem. Standing by for your test results.

So I had a chance to try the game. I couldn't even get to the village due to a bug where it would just keep spamming the screen about a missing .png file but even getting to the initial area where you get your first quest I could feel the lag. MangoHUD wouldn't load for me so I don't have an exact frame rate to give but I could feel the game being laggy. I tried the Windows demo using Wine before buying this and experienced neither of these issues with that. None of my system was being pushed at all. GPU usage never got above 15%; VRAM never above 628 MB; CPU usage never above 5%; RAM usage never above 2.6GB. Basically it wasn't misusing my hardware, must be a coding issue. Sadly I don't see a official website to report bugs to so we will have to report here.

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X | 16GB DDR4-3000 CL15 | MSI RX 580 8GB Gaming X | Mesa 21.1.3 | Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB | Solus 4.3 | Mate 1.24.3 | Kernel 5.13.8-190.current

I just replied at your topic. I also encountered the same bug, but managed to fix it. It is only after, that I run into performance trouble in the near village.

First off thank you for fixing my issue. Is the atttached picture the village you meant ? If so I can say that while it mostly felt the same as the previous area, which is to say a tad laggy, there were a couple instances where the game would literally get so bad I couldn't move for 1-2 seconds and then go back to normal.

This is exactly where it starts to lag ! It even becomes worse when I enter a house (good FPS) and then come back to the village and worsen subsequently and soon becomes unplayble !
