Herrick: Zinc isn't exactly as common as Plutonium.
depends planet
Loving this game so far, Looking like a better buy for me than "Elite Dangerous" was...had to get my money back on that one....After 9 hours straight I'm a little burnt out, but that's not the games fault, I'm just sleepy.....It's gorgeous, can't wait to see unique things :3

misscrabtree456: My first planet was hot, it was the same thing. Leave ship, run around for a minute or two, get back into the ship. Once I learned how to use zinc it was better, and upgrading the exosuit.

Herrick: That must've been really annoying. I started off on a planet that didn't have any environmental hazards. Later on I found a very cold planet and I couldn't last very long out in the open. It would be very frustrating and tedious to start out on a planet like that. Zinc isn't exactly as common as Plutonium.
For start definitely. They should really tweak the starting planet choice to be one without any extremes.
But as soon as you get the Blueprint for shield shards you can reload the environment protection with iron. Combined with high level environment protection upgrades extreme conditions become almost irrelevant.

Oh yeah, thought I would love Elite D, but ended up hating it. This game is 1000 times better.

Agree, ED is technically beautiful like an open world observatory but it doesn't spark your curiosity like learning alien languages and stories and a "red thread" of a journey to the center of the universe. And the space stations in ED almost all look the same. The NMS people at least had the foresight that there must be a motivational factor, a goal. Yet still you have the possibility to explore at your heart's content.

I agree, I had the luck launching 3rd time or so after the patch confusion ended my starting planet was a lush and rich green world, Peyleray FR646, that made it easy to grow on the game mechanics. The charred hot planet I'm currently on would definitely have made a very bad and probably frustrating starting point.
