Anybody know how to take a screenshot? ShareX either gives me a black screen or the menu.

Well there is always the good old fashion way, print screen -> open paint -> paste -> save -> profit? Otherwise you will probably need FRAPS or something.

Print Screen also gives a black screen.

Do you have a dual monitor setup? My right screen is my main monitor. If a game is running full screen, then when I paste an print screen image it pastes an image with a width of 2160, so I have to scroll to the right 1080 pixels to see the screen shot.

the free version of fraps is ok . You will need to convert to jpg later with free though

if you are windows 10 you can use the xbox game recording feature to record short video and take screen cap from that

I wonder why Nvidia's Shadowplay doesn't work in this game.

Finally i found the solution, the screenshoot fonction doesn't work in window's mode fullscreen but works in borderless.

Well, Nvidia announced "Ansel" some months ago.
It should be present within NMS and a few others.

What it is - an advanced screen shot utility, best look up "Ansel" for yourself here http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/ansel

The only problem so far: Nvidia announced it "coming soon", but so far there is nothing to be seen.
Wrote to the devs of both Nvidia and the mentioned games >>> no answer.

Err. Technically yea, I have my main monitor but I am also duplicating it to my tv.

Here is how I do it with Windows 10, Nvidia 960. Run the game in Window Borderless mode (see options/graphics) - yes, you will have to restart. Windows 10 comes with Snip. Alt-Tab out of the game and run snip and you can take a capture of any part of NMS that you'd like. This is a beautiful game and I attached a picture of myself flying over a moon with it's gigantic planet in the background.

its an OpenGL game all the fancy pants 3rd party apps are mostly designed for DirectX... Except for one... MSI Afterburner! it works fantastically on OpenGL games and does screenshots movies and has some of the best looking results of all the screen capture apps.

Starkrun, you are correct about the OpenGL. I just tried to use ShareX in Starbound and got a black screen.
