I am on "The First Traveller"

He wants me to "get the portal address"

Unfortunately he triggered on a portal that I had made an extensive outpost around already.

Especially I already had that specific portal "primed".

When I try what the quest demand, I only get the regular text you get from any portal, randomly selected from a couple of possibilities, but not the special quest dialogue.

I tried simply chosing "get the address of this portal", but that doesnt satisfy the quest either.

I tried finishing the Atlas questline so I can "reset" the quest after using black hole travel, but that doesnt do anything either.

I tried editing the safefile but that didnt do squat either.

Any fruther ideas ?

Try warping to a system far away from that Portal -- or teleport to another of your bases if it's distant enough.

IIRC, most quests will (eventually) give you the option to relocate the object of the quest to the current system if the original target is sufficiently far away. After moving away from the original system, check the Log page then select the quest. If it works, you will get a message (I don't recall the exact wording) something like "Target is not in the current system. Reassign quest target?" Agree to the reassignment and you should get directed to a (hopefully) unused portal.
Thanks for your time !

Why, that was of course the first thing I tried.

I have jumped to the galaxy core with an all first glyph address the moment I had my first glyph, though, so getting out of range this way was how I have helped myself in the past.

As I already said, I did the Atlas questline just so I could jump black holes in the hole that would help. Unfortunately that didnt help either.

This really sucks, because I already put so much work into this character. For example I already have an S grade freighter. :( Those are a PITA to get.
You didn't mention it but have you tried locating and activating some other portal?

If I recall correctly, the "do the thing but a a different location" works for quests to destroy a Resource Depot. If the specific depot is already destroyed or if the player destroys it with the ship rather than from the ground with the multitool then it is supposed to be possible to achieve the quest by locating and (properly) destroying any other Resource Depot.

It might not help but have you tried fully discharging the Portal? It is a pain to have to re-enter the glyphs for many trips but I seem to recall that six to ten trips through a portal fully depletes the charge. It is possible that this would be enough to reset the portal back far enough.

Something else that might help would be to discharge the portal then find a Monolith to find a portal but since this is a lot of work back up saves and when at the Portal or Monolith reverify that the game didn't shift to another quest. I believe that you might already be rechecking the selection in the Log but mention this just in case since the quest is already having a nervous breakdown.

Have you tried just finding a Holo-Terminus to see if it might have credited your discovery of the address for the quest and allow you to continue? Sometimes the Log seems to need some help to it to update.

If you do have to restart the game, use the Save Editor to capture the seed (copy both if there are two listed) and then use the Save Editor to restore the S Class ship. Can't call that cheating since the game is otherwise cheating you out of progress.

Good Luck

Oh whow, I wasnt expecting more answers !

Unfortunately, I had no luck with any of these ideas:

- I tried using a different portal with the quest active, unfortunately that doesnt do anything at all.

- I tried a telephone booth and it only said what the *** are you doing here.

- I tried to empty the portal but after 36 teleports its still going strong.

- So since I'm again out of ideas, I now started farming glyphs so I can enter different addresses than just all first glyph, because maybe thats the problem why the portal just keeps going ?

By the way, its not my *star ship* thats S class, getting an S class starship is easy. Just pay attention to what lands on starports whenever you farm nanites.

But its my freighter thats S class and farming a freighter is a TOTAL PITA, i.e. needs hours of reloading, so I'd prefer not to repeat that experience.

Btw my star ship is a great exotic with 440.7 base maneuverability, highest I've seen so far on any exotic star ship.

Original system name is Lelashc, portal address (001 Euclid) is:

1 bird / 1 bird / 8 dragonfly / 5 balloon / 15 atlas / 9 galaxy / 15 atlas / 15 atlas / 13 rocket / 0 sunset / 0 sunset / 3 diplo

or in compact notation: 1185f9ffd003

Glyphs explained: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Glyph

(Euclid of course)

Its rather ugly though, a yellow royal.

Still with fully upgraded to maneuverability 900+ it now handles very smoothly. Well, as smoothly as NMS gets, anyway.

Just a short update, I have finally managed to get all 16 glyphs by just searching for travellers.

Took a lot longer than I thought it would. Wasnt fun either.

So far I havent managed to drain the portal yet, though. Have gone through a couple times now and it still keeps going. Admittedly I took the chance to immediately get all the stuff I always wanted in the first place (alien multi-tool, great derelict freighter etc).
Hmm.

I'm starting to think that I have found the perfect portal, that just never runs out.

Well, will try more tomorrow.
So, I got a freighter on the character I started in frustration.

The only effect of dialing many addresses is that any system in my list that I havent written the address down of is gone now. And that have been some sweet systems among them. :(

I guess the conclusion is:

1. Backup backup backup

2. Write down the address of any new system you go to (I already write down a lot so I can get stuff quickly once I need it).
