Is this game even worth it even if it was sub $20?
well 40-50 dollars is a pipe dream and the developer can envelop a wine bottle with a dorsal opening.
it's good OP

To be honest, if I had known how much fun I would have had playing this game I would have gladly payed $70 for it. Since I didn't know that it would end up becoming one of my favourite games I bought it on sale.

How much money it is worth will of course depend on the person since people are different and enjoy different things. There are those who have played it for 1000+ hours and there are those who refunded the game after playing for 5 minutes, and then there's everything in between :)

Nah... Whatever you've read or heard to trigger that insult certainly must be true.

Best game ever. I bought it 3 times.
At launch I don't believe it was worth the full price. As a result I waited for it to go on sale.
Now, with all the updates and content added to the game, full price is OK, but, timing being everything...

It's currently 50% off on most platforms, incl. gog.

By now you've had time to see enough gameplay videos to know whether the gameplay itself looks like something you'd enjoy, so if you're considering it? Buy it now.

yeah maybe once the pricing reflect someone who is taking their meds :P
The price is absolutely okay.

This game gets upades for 6 years now, all for free. This is not possible if you reduce the price, who should pay the developers then?

They could have made it like other games: reduce the price of the base game and then release a numerous amount of dlc's that you have to pay for.

But this way, everyone always gets the current updates, without having to pay again and again, which is much more annoying in my opinion.
The price is ridiculous.

I bought NMS on a 50%-off sale, and that's an even more ridiculous price.

I've played NMS for over 2,000 hours, and have re-started and re-played in new game start at least a couple of dozen times.

I can't offhand think of another game where I've gotten so much play value for such a low price.

At 2,000 hours of play, we're talking approximately $0.03 (3¢) an hour.

That is a ridiculously low "cost-per-hour".

Well worth it!
Uh, this game is under constant development since its release in 2016. Its constantly upgraded and expanded.

Riddiculously priced ? At release, from what I've seen on YouTube - yes. At release it was a quite disappointing game.

But nowadays, nope, no way. Its still an odd game in many respects, but its full of so many things to do.

I can get from new start to everything maxed in about 100 hours. And that was a while ago, theres probably even more content now. I just felt the itch to restart.

Only thing thats annoying is that I feel no urge to play it online any playing it offline quite a bit of content doesnt work properly, for example you cannot get a living ship. I dont mind though, living ships suck big time and I have no clue why anyone would ever want one.

Maybe, just maybe...the people buying it don't need meds. Maybe because they are sane. Maybe you feel you need to go into a forum to tell the developers (who will never see this) to sit on a wine bottle because you are on meds. Ever think of that troll laddie?
Get a grip on reality missy.

Given that the game as it stands includes, for no extra charge, what most developers would have released as multiple $30-$50 add on packages and others would have released as a hundred $10 DLCs I think the fact the price has not gone up is pretty remarkable.
I love that for 1 price i get the whole game, no more to pay, i get everything that everyone else has, no DLCs, no add on packs or skins. and for a lot less than a lot of other games
I still don't see an argument for it being worth even $20.
Other developers are raping the customers in the latest capitalist trend doesn't effect the value argument positively.
Hence developers can take their 'staff of intrusion' and suck it.
