This message shows just after the Hello Games logo appears on the screen. The only option is to close program.

What's happening? Fresh download of a new game, clean boot of system including Windows 10 updates.

Oh good. I just played a few seconds to set everything. Now I don't wanna play it if it's gonna crash on my ass.

The game runs pretty bad at the moment even if you play it. It seems like every time it generates new terrain there is awful stuttering. it's pretty bad while flying :/

It's not happening to "everybody". I'm watching my wife play the game as I type this, and it's actually running well.

Our two concerns are more in line with 1) Why can't we go online (REALLY worried the GOG version is gimped and can't go online), 2) Why isn't the patch available.

According to http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/update-1-03/ I consider the patch essential. No sense playing without it since it's the only time (they promised) where your save game will be invalidated/needs to be deleted beforehand.

Agreed... I actually made a thread about the need for the patch a few days back. Buried now, under new(er) threads.

That's old news, its' dated Aug, 7th, that should have already happened.

If your cpu doesn't support SSE4.1 (e.g AMD Phenom, older Intel) then the game is crashing on start-up. The devs seem to be working on a fix now.
