Hi,
I am currently having a problem taking photo's in game. When I activate the camera and press, the photo screen freezes and then eventually crashes to desktop.
It only happens when using the camera. I can F12 screenshots okay.
anyone else experiencing this issue or have a solution.
I've done some searching and it seems others have encountered this, and some people have found cutting and pasting the nms pictures folder under c:/windows/users/'username'/pictures to the drive where the game is installed resolves. But alas not for me.
I thought maybe Onedrive migth've been the issue, so I unlinked and removed Onedrive from my pc, but this did not solve it.

Would appreciate any tips.

I had exactly that problem when I was running NMS under Win7. Since switching over to Win10 (new drive, clean install not an in-place upgrade), taking a picture in photo mode has been 100% reliable.

In my Win7 days I was sometimes able to get a photo mode picture to work but it was unreliable. When I had to use that mode (for things like "take a picture of a desert planet" or something like that) I would always first do a hard save at a spinner pole or save beacon. Most of the time after enough restarts I'd get it to work. Otherwise, when I simply wanted a picture and didn't want the hassle, I'd use the Nvidia overlay capture or GoG-mode F12.

Nowadays it's usually F12, since that can capture the portal glyphs on the screen if they're displayed. Nvidia capture will get the glyphs but it also forces the pop-up text box onto the screen. The photo mode LMB works but for some reason never captures a picture with the glyphs. !#%#$ comptuers, what can you do? ;-)

Thanks. I just tried a fresh install, but same issue. Win 10, using and AMD 6600XT Graphics card. I've only had this issue since the last NMS update.

I need to capture a photo of a creature in order to complete a mission. Unless I can resolve this, its unplayable for me.

My guess then would be something unhappy in the ggraphic engine, perhaps a buffer overrun.

Since F12 is working for routine screen captures, maybe make note of your current graphics settings and then turn them all the way down. You'll be in "potato mode" but that's okay if you can get the screen shot.

Alternate. If you're running full-screen then try windowed or windowed-borderless mode. Again not as your everyday setting, just long enough to get the screenshot.
