New players should know some information about the game, at least I know I am not buying the game if I know this.
After 5 years, the PC controls of the game is still terrible.
The game is barely recognizes mouse wheel, or fourth and fifth buttons. The controls in general are typical badly remapped controller controls, and I see this bullshit in a lot of games, even Witcher 2 and 3 had this issue, where you can't use the same button for a function in a situation in which you would not be able to do said function. For example, when you are on a horse, you won't be able to crouch, so you should be able to freely remap the control for crouch.
In No Man's Sky opening inventory on foot and in the ship are two different functions. The flight controls on the keyboard makes no sense. You can slow down, even go backwards with the ship in space, but you can't do the same with the back button in a planet's atmosphere, I can't slow down under 20 something (I don't know what those letters are for in the game) / sec.
The keyboard controls are so over the place, there is a clear lack of common sense, or just lazy design, not sure which, but it doesn't matter at the end of the day, just know it before you get into the game!
Also they did not fix the constant pop-in we could see on the initial PS4-version, sometimes objects on the terrain literally appear right in front of me, sometimes I even stand i the texture when they appear. I have a decent PC with an R7 3700x and a 2070S, it is not hardware limitation, it is either lack of optimisation, or just laziness on the development side.
After about 25 hours of struggling, I couldn't handle all these problems mentally, I refunded the game.
