Doing print screen just gives me a black paste :/

Install some capture/recording software like FRAPS or Bandicam. The free version of either is more than enough for screenshots.

I just add it to Steam as a non-steam game.
That way i can use the steam overlay to display frame rates, browse the internet, play music and take screenshots.

All without having to alt-tab out.
