How do I update with the offline files? Uninstall first or over the original installation? Save files ? It would be the right thing to get some OFFICIAL instructions, instead of nudging towards "galaxy".

Just install over, dont worry about saves.
You can backup your save files if you want, they are located here: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser

Well I just uninstalled my game, remebering NOT to delete my saves then reinstalled the new patched game into the same place and it started fine right form the last save.

Never noticed any difference, but then my game was fine to begin with.

I'm disappointed there isn't a small PATCH.EXE I could download and install. Do I really have to redownload the entire installer? Wasted bandwidth, when many of us have data caps now.

It screams laziness.
Or ulterior motives.
Unless the Galaxy users have to download the whole thing too. In which case, just laziness.
