Hi there! I played NMS right from the start and liked it quite a lot (perhaps because I had no very high expectations) then I layed the game aside for a while. Coming back now I am havin trouble remaping the keybinds.

I am able to remap some keys but others will show a diamond afterwards. I hoped to be able edit the keys via TKGAMESETTINGS.MXML directly but it is mostly empty.

I am greatful for any hint.

You're on the right track. Try mapping an otherwise used key, such as the back-tick (`). If the game takes it (it should) then it should also generate an entry in TKGAMESETTINGS. From there, make your changes with a text editor.

I needed to do this to map the movement keys from WASD (the work of the Devil) to ASDX (the One True Arrangement) but the X key is used as "delete" in the key editor. So, mapped Player_Back to something or other and then edited it to be "KeyX". Works fine.
