Saw this posted on Steam forum and tested to see if this works.

Feed the rolling animals on a Cabled Planet. I tossed one piece of food pellet taming four of the rolling balls.

The rolling balls stopped rolling but also did not stop producing Fiendish Roe. I harvested each of the four about eleven times and just left. Unlike other fauna the balls did not follow.

Now that I have a bunch not sure if I will ever use it as the cooking stuff is so boring.

Gives some hope for actually finding diplo chunks and giant eggs.

The Fiendish Roe was initially called one of the generic names but after selecting the second option in the interaction menu for the creature the item was listed as Fiendish Roe and I received three units per harvest with a varying duration of time to next harvest.
