So I've been playing quite a few hours (nearing about 200 now), but all offline. And when I say offline, I mean the game has never connected to an online server. Completely offline machine. And while I'm still running an older version (3.75 expeditions revisited), I was wondering whether my inability to get the free freighter salvage beacon from Helios and rewards from other Anomaly NPCs is a something which was meant to be fixed for offline players, or whether it's still locked behind server authentication / communication.

Anyone playing completely offline: can you get stuff from Helios etc or do they keep saying "come back another time" for you too? I think I got rewards just ONCE in my entire gameplay - the first time I met them. After that, nada.

Thank you Braggadar. I would also like the answer to this question.
Yes, as an Offline Player you have an few restrictions:

1. No beacons from Helios. Place your beacon in the personal refiner, as soon as you landing on the derelict freighter and before your use the terminal to open the locked door.

2. No actions possible with Ares (don't know, if an other thing in Multiplayer)

3. No Quick Silver Missions from Nexus. You can fix it on two ways:
a) see the solution with Quick Silver Missions Runs via Save Game Editor: https://www.gog.com/forum/no_mans_sky/quicksilver_quests_dont_appear_at_the_nexus_in_offline_mode

b) Use the Save Game Editor for direct manipulate the Quicksilver Units.

4. You can't play Expeditions. If you will buy the rewards on QSB, use the Save Game Editor.

5. You can't upload your bases. (useless for Single Player)

Few things, that spawn immediately.
Looks like either my save games are borked or the notepad++ hack for savegames ie "QS REWARDS" got patched out or the files got altered in 3.75. Probably earlier when they let opened the QS Shop for offline players. Notepad++ can't find that line to alter, so ... can't do that.

No, I won't mod this game, nor am I going to bother with save editors I've had enough of altering things which should never have been coded that way in the first place.

Hopefully I keep that expensive beacon safe in the refiner, or luck into Stellar Ice or Derelicts with Space Anomaly dice rolls. XD

Don't put anything into a refiner that you cannot afford to lose. Long-standing problem with refiner inventory being deleted.

The only thing I ever really left in there was rusted metal. Anything else will certainly be temporary.

The refiner in this cause is the personal refiner in the Exo-Suit. He is absolutely safe. Other then the freighter-based refiners (they lost all in it, if you go two steps or so). In the actually patch-version 3.84 also the refiners in ground bases are safe agains losts.
About that quicksilver mission thing:
I made a mod that creates quicksilver missions in the nexus:

Are you sure it's not in the save file? You need to search for "QS_REWARDS" with an underscore instead of a space.

Absolutely. I've tried searching for different sections of that line you mention using Notepad++ to even look for alternative variations in case the devs changed it slightly. Nada.

Like I said, my save might be borked (even though nothing is seemingly broken about the gameplay elsewhere - standard Nexus missions are there but not the QS ones, the QS shop is open for buying goods, everything else in the game works) or the devs silently removed/altered the QS_REWARDS hack from the save sometime after they opened the QS shop to users. Again, this game is on a pure 100% offline machine as well, so maybe this plays a part in whether or not a line in the save gets written or not?

It might stay resident in old saves from previous versions and is only fully missing in new game saves (version 3.75). Dunno. I'll have another go soon to look again.

EDIT: It might have something to do with the way Notepad++ is reading the file. Any idea what encoding format it should be reading this file as?

Is the last version of your mod compatible with current GOG version of the game (3.s4)?

No, the character array 'QS_REWARDS' should be findable no matter if your npp is set to ANSI or UTF8. It may however only be present/added to the save after you finished the minimum required mission to earn these. The save file itself is binary encoded afaik. So you can't simply edit it in npp without a tremendous amount of luck.

The latest mod version is compatible with 3.75 (Revisited).
The latest game version however is 3.84 (Sentinel).

Unfortunately I currently have a lot of projects, so I don't know when I have the time to update it again.
But I'll try to do that as soon as possible

I made a tutorial for that one as well some time ago:
