I didn't have this before, nothing on my PC changed since I last played NMS, only NMS updated to Beyond and now just crashes to desktop before even loading up the menu.
Same here, even a clean reinstall, furthest I got is the 2nd splash screen, black screen, back to desk top, Done a verify check, get a downloading files, etc. Same rersult expect only get Hell Games splash screen then desktop.

Check to make sure your antivirus isn't flagging the game's .exe as malware. Many reports on the NMS Reddit sub that this is causing issues exactly like what you're reporting.
Crashes to desktop after select game mode. After update to Beyond

Windows7 x64, Phenom x4 955

Yes yet another disaster at a time Hellogames just cant afford it after 2 years of rebuilding thir reputation,

Now first time I try Beyond and It crashes fisrt time i try to Teleport home to see the "New" stuff? I,m running total Vanilla game (was 1.77) with no mods etc. warping and teleporting has always been ridicllously overlong, you would thinbk they would have changed that at least?

With the hundreds of great and working Fan Mods out there you would think they would incorperate them and give credit.
another FCUKup! Im done with this crowd.
Going to buy X4 now!!!

I updated mine as well - can access the menu and play now. Performance is less than satisfying though.

I have the same problem, submitted a ticket to the devs. I bought the game today, then when trying to run it for the first time, it gave me a warning message about my nVidia drivers. So I updated my nVidia drivers to the latest version and restarted.

I can get past the splash screens to the menu, but whenever I try to start any kind of game, it crashes.

I've done a verify of the contents, tried turning the multiplayer off in the xml settings, run combatibility modes, etc.

Right now I'm assuming it's because of the Vulkan switchover. Apparently every video card in the 900 series is supported except for mine: the nvidia 950 GTX.

Same problem here, but I have a 970 GTX :(

The latest patch fixed my start up issue! I'm back in the game!

Same issue here, GTX980, Solus 4.0 OS. Worked fine before the update. I managed to get the game working this morning and started a new game just fine. Went to another planet and it crashed on landing and now crashes when ever I try to reload the game.
I have the same issue, running the game on an Area 51 Alienware with GTX 970 cards. Might be a general problem with this card series?
Windows 7, 750 Ti - new driver solved the problem
