I am on the first mission after i arrive at the Noah system and the Angelwing simply does not shoots! No matter what i click or do it does not shoots against the attackers. The engine and shield are working normally and the interface ackowledge my orders but no shots are fired... am i forgetting to do something?

Ah, you made the same mistake as I did: you didn't equip the ship prior to starting the mission. See, just before you launch the mission you have this briefing screen with the star map. There, on the lower side of the screen, you have this tools button (right next to the yellow "Launch" button). Click the button, and you will get to the equipment screen.

The options (what to put where) will overwhelm you at first, but it won't take you long to figure everything out.

This. Also, put some time into the configuration. I am in the same scenario, and it seems rather ruthless. I think I need to rethink my "teh ultiamte LAZERS!" configuration ; )
