I'm playing the original campaign with a ranger character. Just reached level 6. I select Panther as my animal companion on level up, yet when i try to summon it, i get a badger instead...

Is this a bug?

No-one wants a badger. But it sounds like you might be mistakenly casting the "Summon Animal" spell. Try right-clicking on Special Abilities, then look for "Animal Companion"(?) under "Ranger" instead.
