So, I finally decided to play Neverwinter Nights and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm doing the Blacklake District in Chapter One. I got to the last Tomb of Never behind the bookcase but I was attacked by the Swords of Never, which I couldn't defeat. I ran and grabbed the item and used the Stone of Recall. My character is a level 6 Paladin with Power Attack and Divine Shield. I had Tomi Undergallows with me. My question is: is there a more elegant way to defeat those opponents? Can you return in later chapters? Any help would be welcome.

If these are the one you are talking about, then Answer: NO
I presume that they were made to just sneak past them, or use Stone of Recall as you did.

I drank a invisibility potion, left my companion behind the door, and grabbed the quest item.

bring a friend because you will not defeat Morag alone. I play a lot you could join me Neverwinter nights Join me in the prelude. I am host'n the official campaign starting right now Join us 72.47.152.129:812 fun and adventure!
There is a way, especially as a Rogue - sneak, move silently and set trap is needed. First, you have to sneak behind the entrance structure. There, while stll undetected, you have to lay 'a path of death' with traps (you should have plenty of them if you retrieved them in Peninsula and Beggars Nest districts, otherwise you can buy them in Moonstone Mask, for example). Then lure one of the Swords to follow you through it. Finish it off, if needed. Repeat until all of them are gone, one by one.

Easiest answer: Come back when you are higher level. Also, maybe bring a better fighter as an NPC companion (either the fighter or maybe the monk) because Tomi will go down very, very quickly. A rogue isn't going to last long in a straight fight against dedicated fighting monsters, especially when those monsters are higher "level", outnumber the party, and are immune to sneak attack.

You won't be able to return in later chapters, but you can go adventuring in the other districts for more XP before trying to complete this fight. As long as you don't turn in all 4 reagents used to stop the Wailing Death, you'll be able to come back. The actual point of no return is a little beyond turning in all 4 reagents, but I don't remember exactly what that point is.

If you just can't make progress in one area of a district, then usually an easy answer is "come back later, when you're higher level". Just make a note in your journal to remind you to come back, as well as noting down what you were doing.

The swords are entirely beatable. I've done it twice as part of my "No Experience Left Behind" style of game play. I've done it with a solo Rogue (granted, with one level of Shadow Dancer) and as a solo Monk.

The guy in the video is taking a level 7 druid (not a dedicated fighting class), a level 6 bard (definitely not a dedicated fighting class), a dire spider and some kind of bear into a melee fight against 4 monsters that are all dedicated to fighting in melee. He then fails to focus fire on the any of the monsters, so all of them continue to attack at full power.

After handing over the last reagent to Aribeth you have a dialogue choice - you can either move to Chapter 1 Epilogue or you can say that you still have some unfinished business in Neverwinter and delay skipping to the next area.

I was pretty sure that was the case, but I wasn't completely certain I was remembering correctly. I know that if you just hold one to at least one of the reagents, then you won't move to the epilogue by mistake.

Thank you. All of this is very helpful. I actually went to a previous save file just before entering Blacklake District and I am focusing on getting all the possible experience from all the quests (including henchman quests). I think I have an idea of how to do this. I'll try to get my Paladin to level 7 before he faces the swords the again. When that happens, I'll bring Daelan with me (I just leveled him up and did his quest which gave me a nice amulet). I'll buff as much as possible (including a Potion of Speed ) and use a wand of lesser summoning and use the creature as a distraction while I focus my attacks on one sword a a time before they can do too much damage. I'll drink potions of healing as needed and hopefully Dealan and the summoned creature can hold while my Paladin deals the heavy damage.

Have you completely finished all of the other districts? I don't recall the anticipated level progression of the game, so I don't have a good idea of how much material you've implicitly covered. If you haven't finished the other districts, then just use your current save and go adventure in one of them for awhile. You don't have to complete any district before visiting another one.

Some other things:
-You can level a henchman at any time; they don't gain XP in the usual sense. Ask them to level, and if they aren't one level below you, they sit for a moment, then say they've leveled. So feel free to keep Tomi with you until you want to try the swords again, then just go drop him off, pick up Daelan, ask Daelan to level, and head over to the swords.
-You can save/load during fights, similar to how the guy in the video linked above did.
-You can leave the room if you start to get low on resources (hp, companions, whatever), then come back in to resume the fight. Expect any injured opponents to be back at full hp,but any dead opponents should still be dead.
-Check damage types that the swords use during the battle. You may be able to find things that can mitigate or completely protect against these damage types.
-Pre-buffing is an excellent idea, and you should have at least a paladin spell or two you can cast, if nothing else.
-Make use of companion commands to have every person/thing in your party hitting one sword at a time, even if the swords are attacking different members of your party. The faster you kill a sword, the sooner that sword is no longer hurting you.
If you get more of the chapter done in the level 6+ range, you will earn more coinz. You can put it towards a Greater Swordsmans Belt (very expensive) from the smith in the city core. This belt reduces slashing damage by 20— I kid you not— makes a total joke of swords. Later in the game the three Greater belts (slashing, blunt, piercing) are good items to have on hotkeys depending on what you are fighting against.
