So I've recently installed Neverwinter Nights 1 on a laptop running Windows 10 and an integrated Intel graphics card. I've been having the slowdowns that other people are having and I've gone through all the solutions that people have posted, but I didn't have any luck.
I definitely feel it is CPU bound, and the CPU affinity workarounds also didn't work.
I was playing around and hit the ~ key to bring up the console, and VOILA the game started running as normal. Task Manager reported a solid 20% usage of CPU.
Now if you hit ~, click somewhere on the screen, you can then use keyboard shortcuts and it won't type commands into the console section.
BUT, pressing enter will try and run the typed in command (which would be empty), and the game returns to running slow as before. So you'll need to press ~ again.
My workaround basically means text chat is useless. I hope this solves other people's issues with the game. And that we can collectively work out a more solid solution.
