So I've recently installed Neverwinter Nights 1 on a laptop running Windows 10 and an integrated Intel graphics card. I've been having the slowdowns that other people are having and I've gone through all the solutions that people have posted, but I didn't have any luck.

I definitely feel it is CPU bound, and the CPU affinity workarounds also didn't work.

I was playing around and hit the ~ key to bring up the console, and VOILA the game started running as normal. Task Manager reported a solid 20% usage of CPU.

Now if you hit ~, click somewhere on the screen, you can then use keyboard shortcuts and it won't type commands into the console section.

BUT, pressing enter will try and run the typed in command (which would be empty), and the game returns to running slow as before. So you'll need to press ~ again.

My workaround basically means text chat is useless. I hope this solves other people's issues with the game. And that we can collectively work out a more solid solution.

Hey, just wanted to say that this actually works. After opening console i can see processor usage in task manager around ~20%, buuuut... after doing so NWN screen goes all white. I can still click on some options (i hear buttons being clicked if doing it blindly) but the screen stays white, closing console does not revert this, although returns to 0,1% cpu usage.

At this point I'm not even hoping someone will help me with this, because i probably exhausted all possible options after googling for several hours but mayyyybeeee. I fiddled with cpu affinity, different compatibility modes, in-game options, I even deleted some sound files after reading about it somethere on this forums. Nothing works.

I must add that i have this dreaded intel cpu/integrated gpu HD 3000 configuration, but i remember playing NWN on this laptop using windows 8. So i suspect it must be windows 10 fault.

When I press ~ I have all of my textures white but NPCs and PC. But lags are no more. What a great game.
