I currently own the pre-order version of Neverwinter Nights 2. (Neverwinter Nights 2 Retail + Preorder Bonus). I do not have any of the expansions with my retail edition. Is it possible to use the GOG version to upgrade the retail version to get the expansions and still keep my preorder bonus, as the preorder bonus installer does not recognize the GOG full install as Neverwinter Nights 2 retail. I get the error of: 'Cannot locate NWN2 (USA), RETAIL, on your computer.' when I run the Preorder bonus installer.

He might be referring to stuff like the Merchant's Friend/Waukeen's Blessing feats (you can just console those in, btw) that you're given if you preordered the game.

If you're referring to the Merchant's Friend and Waukeen's Blessing feats -- and the associated shops and items which they unlock in the main campaign -- those are already included in the GOG version. The GOG version also includes the pre-order bonus item from the Mask of the Betrayer expansion pack.
