I havent bought the gog version yet but once I've checked the abandonware version.
THe rendering distance in the menu is limited but you can edit the necro.cfg file and set higher version. I've set
RENDERDIST and FLATSHADEDIST to 100 in order to see "better" in the game. Though the game gets a little bit more unstable.
